Meet the Doctor
Dr. David Guidry is a Morgan City native and graduate of Berwick High School. He attended Louisiana State University where he earned a degree in Biological Sciences. He continued his education at the LSU School of Dentistry where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery Degree. He also completed his Orthodontic Residency program at the LSU School of Dentistry where he received extensive training in the management of tooth movement and facial development or dentofacial orthopedics.
While earning his undergraduate degree at LSU, Dr. Guidry was a member of the LSU Tiger Football team. He was also a member of The Fellowship of Christian Athletes, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society.
During his dental school career, Dr. Guidry was a 2-year Baldridge Scholarship recipient and he was awarded membership to the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society as well as the C. Edmund Kells Honor Society. Dr. Guidry’s clinical achievements and dedication to the field of dentistry were recognized by his instructors and collogues when he received the following awards and recognitions:
- Louisiana Dental Association Senior Student Award
- Southwest Academy of Restorative Dentistry Senior Student Award
- American College of Prosthodontics Undergraduate Achievement Award
- American Student Dental Association Senior Student Award
- Delta Dental Student Leadership Award
In 2010, Dr. Guidry participated in a dental mission trip in Peru where he, his father Dr. Peter Guidry, and several other LSU dental students provided much needed dental treatment to the Shipibo tribe of the Alphonso Ugarte Village in the Amazon rainforest.
Dr. Guidry has done a great deal of research in the fields of dentistry and orthodontics. A piece of his research was chosen to be presented at the 2013 American Association of Orthodontists annual conference in Philadelphia, PA.
Dr. Guidry is a proud member of the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, Louisiana Dental Association and the Bayou District Dental Association. Dr. Guidry also took steps beyond his orthodontic residency to gain his Board Certification; as such, he is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
When he’s not in the office, Dr. Guidry hunts and fishes as much as he can. He and his wife also enjoy exercising and watching movies.
